OneRepublic Inglewood Concert reviews
Never again
I scored a ticket 26 rows back from the stage in the exact center at this venue very close to where he grew up. Since he also has a home over there, I figured that this would be the perfect setting. His voice is still fine, but it wasn't cheap. The sound was perfect.
Before I went, I examined other set lists for this tour, knowing that there would be about 7 or 8 songs that I did not like. However, I wound up sitting down for 11 of the songs on this night. The rain was miserable in the second half and only added to the die-hard party atmosphere. Most of those were played in the first hour of his 2-hour set before it started pouring down rain. Many fans called it quits with the rain. I left during his final acoustic encore of Defying Gravity when OneRepublic mentioned about climate change and taking care of this planet.
Without this, I would have to give this show a 2-star rating. The large screen behind the stage portrayed photos and videos from his travelogue. Now, every time OneRepublic mentioned a place familiar to local country fans or showed videos of that place, these fans would whoop and holler. Ironically, as much as OneRepublic loves the Florida Keys, only a few fans even recognized those pictures and voiced their approval. I kept my mouth shut. It soon became obvious that many of these country fans had never ventured more than 100 miles from home. Had I whooped and hollered every time I saw places that he showed, I would have spent half the show doing so. OneRepublic's message was loud and clear, "Get off your butts and see as much of the world as you can". I would like to add to that, "FIND a way to travel".
